
The
Languedoc is an area of modern France, located in the south
east of the country. Historically, the name
Languedoc has borne several meanings. For present
purposes it constitutes part of the Région of the
Region of Languedoc-Roussillon.
This Région is bounded by the Mediterranean
Sea to the east, the Pyrenees
(
Pirenèus,
Pirineus,
Pyrénées)
and Spain to the south, the Région of Midi-Pyrénées
to the west, and the Massif Central (and Auvergne Région)
to the North.
